First, I like to mention that I live at Fremont area close to Silicon Valley. I do have several classmates and friends at LA area. Maybe you can email me your resume and I will try to forward it to them. In my opinion, coming to a new area to find a new job always take some efforts. Yet I think you should be able to get a job to start with per your legal status to work in US together with your qualification and experience. As to the salary, I am not sure about LA. In San Jose area, the sarary for new graduates from Civil Engineering is about 55000 US Dollars to 65000 US Dollars; It depends. One area I think will be very good for you to try is try to apply any job at public sectors including Cities, Counties, and Fed in LA area. Hope this short post will help you a bit.
